The Science Center of Iowa’s annual Big Blast event marked a special milestone this year: 55 years of inspiring creativity, innovation and a love of discovery. To commemorate the occasion, SCI partnered with Trilix to create a video series that honors the organization’s past, highlights its present and inspires guests to invest in the future of hands-on science learning. We also designed a large-scale timeline wall graphic that showcases the nonprofit’s history in a visually striking, immersive installation.

Trilix worked with SCI to concept, produce and edit the three videos that played throughout the program, each offering a different perspective on its story:

  • The Past — a nostalgic, motion-design journey that brings SCI’s rich background to life through archival photos and audio, exploring the center’s roots and the vision that started it all
  • The Present — a playful look at hands-on learning through the eyes of inquisitive kids
  • The Future — a forward-focused feature with SCI leaders and community voices sharing their goals for the next era of science education in Iowa

Anchored in the 55th-anniversary theme, the timeline stretched across the event space with bold typography, vibrant color blocking and defining milestones that highlight SCI’s evolution — from its early beginnings to its role today as a hub for lifelong curiosity. The result was a focal point that honors the nonprofit’s history while inviting guests to reflect on its growth over the past 55 years.

Together, these pieces celebrate SCI’s legacy of sparking wonder and connecting people to science in fun, meaningful ways. Through thoughtful design, engaging graphics and immersive storytelling, they transform educational experiences into exciting, memorable moments.
