Trilix is thrilled that creative problem-solver and world-traveler Melissa McCarroll recently joined our team as an account manager.

Melissa’s experience in event and account management within marketing agencies provides her with incredible attention to detail and the ability to understand and execute clients’ goals. Her passion for travel, family and uncanny ability to memorize song lyrics had us itching to learn more about Melissa. Here’s what we learned from our Q&A with her.

What do you love most about being an account manager?

I love being around so many creative people. I started working in event management right out of college. That experience helped me establish a good foundation for building client relationships and working with a team. Throughout that time, I interacted with marketing agencies and was inspired by the way they approached projects and problem solving. Since working in an agency, I’ve come to love being in the trenches with all kinds of creative thinkers, solving problems and coming up with perfect solutions for clients.

What are your professional strengths?

Other than being a creative problem-solver, I take pride in my ability to really hear someone when they voice their goals or the barriers preventing them from reaching those goals. I make sure they’re understood and know that we can work together.

How do you spend your time outside of work? Any hobbies?

My husband and I have two daughters who are 7 and 2. I love to bake with them and go to their activities, like weekend soccer games. We’re anxious to start traveling again. We’ve gone all over the world, but there’s a lot of the world to see! I live for the ocean; I live for seeing new places and immersing myself in new cultures. Mexico holds a special place in my heart because I was married there. The culture in Dublin, Ireland, and South Africa was incredible. Vienna, Austria, was the most interesting historically. Prague in the Czech Republic had the most amazing architecture.

Do you have any unique talents?

I can listen to a song once or twice and memorize all the lyrics. I’m still wondering how to apply that knowledge. Maybe trivia?

Preferred motion picture, favorite food and desired drink?

“The Big Lebowski” is my favorite movie. My favorite food is tacos. I’m from Kentucky, so Blanton’s Bourbon rises to the top as a favorite drink.

If you didn’t work in this industry, which career path would you choose?

I would go to both culinary and cosmetology school.

What motivates you at work?

I love setting team members up for success so they feel like they can rock and roll on a project. I also strive to earn clients’ and coworkers’ trust.
