An Ankeny native and graduate of Belmont University, digital communications specialist Katelyn Walljasper blazed her own path to the marketing world. After graduating college in Nashville with a degree in Music Business, she came back to her home state of Iowa to work in the healthcare industry as a marketing coordinator. Now, Katelyn has taken over email communications for Trilix, helping coordinate campaigns for our clients through the power of newsletters.

What are your strengths professionally?
My greatest professional strengths are attention to detail and creativity.
What is your favorite aspect of the job?
My favorite part of working at Trilix is the constant opportunity to learn, whether that means learning about a new skill, process or industry.
Tell us about your life outside of work! Any family? How long have you lived in Iowa or your home state?
I have lived in Ankeny my entire life except for my three-year stint in Nashville. I was convinced that I would end up in a big city like New York or L.A., but I quickly realized I am too family-oriented to live that far away. My parents and sister, along with her husband and their 1-year-old son, live in the Des Moines metro while my brother lives in Kansas City with his fiancée.
What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or unique talents?
I like to stay active by working out, playing tennis and sand volleyball, and taking my dog for walks. Other hobbies include reading, traveling, creating Spotify playlists and spending time at our family lake house.
Favorite film, food, drink and furry friend?
I love all the Marvel movies, but “Black Panther” is probably my favorite. My favorite food is Thai. I mostly just drink water, but my favorite fun drink is boba. I have a 2-year-old Cockapoo named Archie.
What would be your superpower and why?
If I had a superpower, it would be teleportation. I love to travel and explore new places but hate airports and airplanes.
Describe your perfect day.
My perfect day is one that starts off cool in the morning and warms up in the afternoon. It would include taking my dog for a nice long walk, exploring a new part of town, maybe doing some shopping and having brunch at a new local spot. A midday nap on the screened porch would be nice. The evening would be spent relaxing, rewatching episodes of “New Girl” and having a fresh, home-cooked meal.
If you could do any other kind of work, what would it be?
If I could do anything else, I would run a dog shelter or a café with lots of board games.
What motivates you at work?
I am motivated by my teammates. I want to do my job well so that I can hopefully make their jobs a bit easier in the long run.
