Hard to believe it’s been more than 20 years. In late 2001, Todd Senne and I knew it was time for a change. We were working together at a business that was not thriving, and we thought it was time to take our shot. So, with unfounded confidence (and a very aspirational business plan) we took the plunge.

The company we launched, DirectAdvantage, focused on direct mail but eventually evolved into a more full-service marketing business. We did well enough (and just well enough) to find ourselves in the position to acquire a local marketing agency that was struggling to find its footing. Porter & Associates had started in the late ’80s, but the economy of the early 2000s was taking its toll.

So — again with unfounded confidence — we took another plunge. In early 2004 we bought Porter and renamed ourselves Trilix. The first years were up and down, but we managed and persevered with the help of some great people. In 2014, we (very wisely) added Brett Adams to the ownership team, and we’ve been on a roll ever since.

And so, with that history in mind, it is with mixed emotions I’m announcing that Todd has decided to make his next move. Effective Jan. 1, Todd exited Trilix to pursue another passion and to start yet another company: Woodchuck Manufacturing. We will miss him for so many reasons — not the least of which is his well-founded and contagious optimism, which will continue to help him make things happen.

Brett, I, and the whole team wish him every success, and we will do our best to make sure that this thing we started will continue to thrive. He will always be welcome at Beer:30 to check up on us.

Thanks, Todd.
