What do a hiking-loving graphic designer and a reading-enthusiast podcast producer have in common? Jordan Jones and Cooper Maahs are both creatives who joined Trilix’s Communications Department earlier this year. Get to know the newest members of our team.

Jordan Jones, digital communications designer

Trilix welcomed northwest Iowa native Jordan Jones this spring as a digital communications designer. Jordan graduated from Iowa State University in 2016 with a degree in advertising and design studies. Jordan will use her outstanding design skills to create visuals for a variety of digital communications platforms. Considering the heights Jordan has ascended while hiking, we can’t wait to see how she’ll elevate our imagery.

We sat down with Jordan to see what drives her as a designer and outdoor enthusiast.

What is the best part about being a digital designer?

I enjoy the chance to work with a diverse range of clients. Switching between different brands when designing helps me become a better visual problem solver. My professional strengths are my creativity and adaptability. Designing content for digital platforms makes creativity and adaptability a necessity because digital sites inevitably introduce new features, user interfaces and sizing formats. This pushes me to think about ways I can optimize each design to elevate the content and better connect with audiences.

How do you spend your time outside of work? Any hobbies?

I live in Waukee with my partner, our cats — Thor and Loki — and a Belgian shepherd named Fenrir. Weather permitting, I love spending time outdoors, travelling and kayaking. I’ve finally stashed up the gear to go thru-hiking, so I’m hoping to do some shorter trails in the near future. At the moment, I have my eyes set on the Tahoe Rim Trail. The Pacific Crest Trail is on my bucket list. One of my highlights was hiking up to Machu Picchu in Peru.

Favorite film, food, drink and furry friend?

My favorite film is “Little Miss Sunshine.” Sushi is my favorite food. Llamas all the way!

If you could do any other kind of work, what would it be?

I’d work as an art historian or art conservator. There’s such incredible attention to detail with art conservation. Conservators even have to examine the chemistry of the medium used and application techniques.

What motivates you at work?

The encouragement to be creative and the new perspectives I gain by collaborating with others inspires me. I’m excited to be part of the Trilix team.

Cooper Maahs, digital communications coordinator

Trilix is happy to bring podcast aficionado Cooper Maahs into our team as a digital communications coordinator. Cooper grew up in Johnston, Iowa, and graduated from Buena Vista University. Cooper will be telling Trilix’s brand story by producing podcasts to enhance our digital communications and storytelling offerings.

We got the download from Cooper about what motivates him personally and professionally and what he likes to do in his free time, besides rhapsodizing about the timeless tunes of John Denver ballads.

What are your professional strengths, and what do you love about your job?

My favorite aspect is the uncharted nature of the job. I’m producing something we haven’t created before as a company, and that’s thrilling to me. My creativity has always been my greatest strength. I’m constantly coming up with new ideas to push boundaries.

What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies or unique talents?

I picked up reading again during quarantine by starting a book club with some of my friends. It’s been fun falling back into this habit and bringing some friends along with me. I’m also a big Lakers fan and have been known to dabble in hiking and zip lining.

What is a song you have completely memorized?

Country rooooooaaaaads, take me hoooooooome to the plaaaaaaaace I beloooooooong. West Virginia, mountain mama, take me hooooooome.

Best song ever.

If you could do any other kind of work, what would it be?

I feel like I would’ve been a very fun history teacher.

What motivates you at work?

My desire to innovate and create.
