Our media department has gained another valuable team member. Cory Meschede — an Iowa State marketing alumnus — joined Trilix as a media coordinator in March. Prior to landing at Trilix, Cory worked as a marketing coordinator for an event venue in Oklahoma. We’re happy that Cory returned to his home state of Iowa.
While growing up in Okoboji, Iowa, Cory became a seasoned slalom waterskier — not an easy sport to learn. We know he’ll bring the same level of determination and expertise to our media efforts.
We sat down with Cory to see what else motivates him personally and professionally.
What do you love most about being a media coordinator?
I love the creative challenge that comes with marketing to different audiences. Each group has demographics that make it unique and requires us to have a well-rounded approach for our marketing plans. A professional strength of mine is my ability to obtain and build strong relationships with vendors and clients. My new coworkers have been another of my favorite aspects of the job.
How do you spend your time outside of work? Any hobbies?
I enjoy doing anything outdoors. I like fishing, snowmobiling, running and biking, but my favorite outdoor activity is slalom waterskiing. On calm summer mornings, you can find me slalom waterskiing as early as 6 a.m. on Lake Okoboji with my dad. I’ve recently added woodworking to my list of hobbies and have had a lot of fun with it.
Favorite cinematic features, film star and food?
My favorite kinds of movies and shows are military- and sports-related, such as “American Sniper,” “Friday Night Lights” and “Lone Survivor.” I also enjoy older films like “Smokey and the Bandit” and “Caddyshack.”
If I could spend the day with any actor, it would be Sam Elliott.
My favorite food has to be chicken alfredo with a side of Texas toast garlic bread.
If you didn’t work in this industry, which career path would you choose?
I could see myself working as a firefighter or at a lodge in Colorado or Wyoming.
What motivates you at work?
I enjoy our reporting process because it allows me to see how much our work and insight has helped our clients reach their goals. I’m always reminded that the clients entrusted us with executing their marketing campaigns, so we want to bring them the best possible results.
